Rules

Welcome to Lumos. As usual, no site could function to its full standard without some ground rules. We would appreciate it if you could go through all of these rules before you decide to join the site to make your stay far more enjoyable and perhaps get you out of unwanted sticky situations.

GENERAL

• AGE LIMIT. You must be at least 13 years old to be a member. This is in respect of Proboards' Terms of Service, as well as the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), which was created so that information of children under the age of 13 would not be given out.
• RATING. In accordance with the Proboards Terms of Service, this is a PG-13 site and we ask that you respect that.
• LGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY. Here on Lumos, this is a safe space for everyone to immerse themselves in the magical world created in the Harry Potter series regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. Everyone is welcome here and will be treated equally and fairly.
• POSTING BEFORE APPROVAL. Please make sure that you do not post anywhere other than the applications boards before your character is approved.
• RESPECT. This should go without saying but the staff here at Lumos aim to treat each and every member with the respect that they deserve and we expect no less in return. In the event of a disagreement, please contact a member of staff and we will do our best to resolve the issue. We do not tolerate out of character on-site drama of any form and the word of a staff member on the matter is final.
• ACTIVITY. Real life comes first, we all understand that. If you know you are going to be absent for more than five consecutive days please make sure you post a Leave of Absence. Activity does not mean just logging in, it means actual posting as well.
• THEFT. This is something that we take very seriously here on Lumos. Theft will not be tolerated any anyone found breaking this rule will be reported and, if a member of this site, they will be banned. All content on this site has been created by it's members and we will not tolerate any stealing of graphics, applications, posts, original characters or anything to do with the boards, skin and layout of this site. Applications, even those for canons, must be in completely your own words - we do not accept copying and pasting from a Wiki page or HP Lexicon, wanted ad or anyone else's app.
• ADVERTISING. Advertising is allowed only in the appropriate boards. Any advertising in the cbox, in any other boards or through PMs will not be tolerated.
• SERIES CONTINUITY. Please note we only follow the events of the original Harry Potter series, we do not follow any of the events that transpired in The Cursed Child.

CHARACTER CREATION

• REGISTRATION. Please make sure you register with your character's first name when making an account. If your desired username is already taken or you know that it will be used for a canon character, please register with your character's full name as their username. Once you have registered you are welcome to put up an icon for your character but no other graphics should be displayed until your character has been approved.
• AGE. Your character's age must correspond to that of your character's year for example if your character is a first year, they must be 11 or 12; if they are a second year, they must be 12 or 13; etcetera.
• INCLUSIVITY. While this site is based on the Harry Potter series created by JK Rowling, we do not agree with her views on gender identity. All characters are welcome on this site regardless of this or their sexual orientation.
• FACE CLAIMS. We only accept celebrity face claims. That means that you're not allowed to use your own picture, anime or cartoon characters, etcetera and all face claims must be over 13 years old in real life. Please note that any inactivity will risk you losing your claim.
• DISPLAY NAME. When your character has been approved you are welcome to change your account's username to their full display name which must be all in capitals, e.g. HARRY JAMES POTTER.
• GRAPHICS. You can also put up other graphics for your character if you wish although please make sure they don't exceed 500 pixels in width and 400 pixels in height for signatures. Icons should ideally be 150 pixels in width and 400 pixels in height while hover images are 250 pixels in width and 400 pixels in height. Please make sure that all graphics used are appropriate for a PG-13 site.
• MULTIPLE CHARACTERS. This site operates on a one character per account policy. You can create as many characters as you wish to create, provided that you can keep these characters active. If you don't, you risk losing your claims. Please note you must have done at least two roleplaying posts with the latest character before applying for the next.
• SPECIES. We do allow characters that are vampires, werewolves, etc. however we have our own site canon for each so please check that out here before applying for one of those characters.

ROLEPLAY CONTENT

• ROLEPLAYING. All roleplaying should take part in proper threads, this site does not operate on a profile to profile roleplaying policy.
• RATING. Like all Proboards sites, Lumos operates on a PG-13 rating. No threads may contain content above that rating.
• GOD-MODDING. God-modding is not tolerated on this site without the permission of the other character involved. The only exception to this rule is when the character being god-modded is one that we do not have on this site at that time and even then you must stay true to the other character. If in doubt, please contact a member of staff before posting.
