There were times when Harvey hated being at Hogwarts. The younger students had a habit of getting on his nerves and it was rare that a day went by when he didn’t end up getting in a fight with another student about something. More often than not it was when someone tried giving Cory a hard time and he jumped to his brother’s defence and he knew that he wasn’t going to stop trying to protect his brother but he couldn’t deny that it got tedious at times. It had been seven years since Cory had been sorted into Gryffindor rather than Slytherin like everyone had expected him to be given that he was a Lestrange, seven years since they’d had to get over that initial shock and things should have returned to normal but the truth was that things had never quite been the same since then. Harvey hadn’t told anyone that he’d heard his parents plotting a way to kill his brother and make it look like he’d just disappeared, he hadn’t even told his triplets about it and it still weighed heavily on him now. The only reason his parents had decided not to go ahead with it was because he’d made it clear that if anything happened to Cory then his parents would lose him too and that was something that they hadn’t been willing to let happen. Harvey was the firstborn, the one they all expected to carry on the family’s legacy, and even at the age of eleven he had known that his parents wouldn’t have wanted that kind of scandal.
Over the summer he had tried to think of how he could make sure that their seventh year was special for the people he cared about but the Enlightened really seemed to have thrown a spanner in the works. Why they had decided to reveal magic to the world in the way they had done was beyond Harvey, he knew that there were much better ways in which it could have done and even though there was a part of him that was glad that the truth was out in the open now he hated that it had caused so much discord around the world. Even at Hogwarts people were scared and some had taken to lashing out at anyone they thought might be involved. Harvey didn’t know if his parents had anything to do about it but he certainly hadn’t done although there were a few students who didn’t see it that way. One had decided to try and curse him while his back was turned so he hadn’t hesitated in making the boy regret that decision but doing so had landed him in detention and even he hadn’t been able to talk himself out of it that day. Needless to say he was in a bad mood as he made his way back to the Slytherin common room after serving his time in detention and he rolled his eyes as he spotted some first years sitting in the seats that he and his friends usually claimed. “Out,” he said, his tone making it clear that he wasn’t in the mood to be messed with. A part of him was amused as the first years started scrabbling around to gather their things and one even tripped over his own feet in his attempt to get out of the way and once they were done he collapsed in the chair and let his eyes drift shut, needing a moment of quiet to try and get his temper under control once more.
