Becoming a single mother wasn’t something that Summer had ever wanted for herself. She had seen the way her mum had ended up being strong for her and Angel after their father left and she had always admired her but at the end of the day she had wanted her life to turn out differently. Finn was meant to be there with her for all of the milestones and to watch their two girls grow up but it had been over a year since he had died and Summer had been trying to look after them on her own ever since. She knew that he hadn’t wanted to leave them, he was killed by a dark wizard he was trying to track down and Summer was doing her best to make sure that their dad’s memory lived on in them but she knew that it wasn’t going to be easy. Finn’s superiors had made it clear that the wizard he had been tracking might not stop with him, just having the same surname as Finn meant that she and the girls would be put in danger and that was something that Summer hadn’t wanted. Instead she had taken their advice and changed her surname back to her maiden name and she had changed the girls’ surnames as well. None of this was going the way she had wanted it to but she was doing the best she could and she was grateful that she had her friends and family around her.
That afternoon Angel had told her that he would look after the girls so that she could have a break and Summer knew that she would have to find a way to thank him for that. The girls adored their uncle and she could see it in his face that he adored them too so she knew that they were in good hands and it meant that she could have some time away without having to worry. There were plenty of Guardians and Ministry workers around trying to keep them all safe but she knew that her brother would protect the girls as well so they would be just fine. It wasn’t very often that she had some free time on her hands these days so the truth was that she wasn’t entirely sure what to do with her time but she soon figured it out and headed to the Three Broomsticks after texting Nessie and asking if she wanted to catch up. There were a few years between them but they were in the same house while they were both at Hogwarts and Summer had ended up taking the girl under her wing and looking out for her as much as she could so they had become close and it had been far too long since they had last been able to hang out properly.
