Flick had always known that her seventh year was going to be tough, she was determined to do well in her classes and get the best possible grades and nothing was going to stop her from doing that. The Enlightened revealing magic to the world had definitely thrown a spanner in the works, she had planned on having some fun with her friends that year but tensions within the castle were still at an all time high and the truth was that she didn’t see that changing any time soon. Flick didn’t have too many friends, she preferred to keep her circle small and make sure that the people in it were ones that she could trust completely. She had hit it off with Elaine, Harvey and Cory on the train to Hogwarts at the start of their first year and to this day the three of them were still her closest friends. She knew that rumours had circulated at the start of the year about which parents might be involved with the Enlightened and the Lestrange parents were definitely on that list but Flick knew that she wasn’t going to stop being friends with the boys. They were nothing like their parents and she knew that they wouldn’t ever get involved in anything like that. Her own parents hadn’t gotten involved with Voldemort when he tried to take over and she had believed them when they told her that they weren’t involved with the Enlightened. She had asked them outright and she knew that they wouldn’t lie to her so she trusted them to keep their word.
She still worried about them even though she knew that they could take care of themselves and she saw them as often as she could. Even after her brothers came along she had stayed her dads’ favourite and she loved them for it. If anything happened to them she knew that she would be crushed so she knew she just had to hope that they would stay safe and that nothing bad would happen to them. When it came to the people she cared about at Hogwarts it wasn’t as easy, there were Guardians and Ministry workers doing their best to protect them and the staff at Hogwarts were doing the same. The castle was safe for now but with so many of them in one place it also made them an easy target so she knew deep down that it was only a matter of time before the threat came to them and she wanted to be ready when that time came. That was why she had been training harder than ever to make herself stronger but now she knew that it was about time to have some downtime and catch up with her best friend. “I was starting to forget what you looked like without Harvey joined at your hip,” she teased as she made her way over to Elaine and pulled her into a tight hug. “How are you doing?” They saw each other when Harvey and Cory were around, of course, but it felt like a while since they’d last had some alone time and she wanted to make the most of it.
