Alina had always wondered what it would be like when she made it to Hogwarts like her older brothers. She had wanted to go so that she could get away from her father’s influence and having Alec there had made things a whole lot easier but to start with she’d missed him after they were sorted into different houses. She hadn’t thought that she would fit in at the school given what her father had always wanted her to become, a lot of the other students had seen her as a freak and they’d been quite happy to call her that to her face but over time she’d found some amazing friends. Autumn was the one she’d befriended first and the girl was still one of her best friends now. Autumn had never cared about what she might become one day because Autumn was a werewolf herself. She had been there for Alina through thick and thin and the girl had more than earned her loyalty in return. There were other werewolves at Hogwarts because the truth was that it wasn’t as frowned upon to be one now as it once was but there were still those who were afraid of anything that they didn’t completely understand. Over time Alina had developed a thicker skin and she didn’t care what people thought about her so much anymore but it was still so much easier having Autumn by her side along with the other friends she’d made.
Right now people had more important things to worry about anyway and Alina did too. The world had been turned upside down by the Enlightened and she knew that she wouldn’t be surprised at all if her father was involved with them. The man was crazy as far as Alina was concerned but she knew that her grandfather had been too. They were both power hungry and only wanted to join what they thought would be the winning side. Her father had never been a caring man, to him his children were nothing more than trophies or pawns in some twisted game that only he knew how to play so there was a part of her that hoped that something might happen to him so that she, Alec and their sister could all have a chance at getting their lives back but she wasn’t sure that that would happen and a part of her felt guilty about thinking that way about her own father. Needing to clear her head, Alina made her way down to the lake. It was quite warm that day so she had half expected there to be others out there but if she was honest she was glad that she was alone and she didn’t hesitate in pulling off her clothes to reveal the swimwear she was wearing underneath and diving into the water. Swimming had always been a good way for Alina to clear her head and right now she needed that more than ever before.
