Flick’s seventh year at Hogwarts was proving to be memorable, that was for sure, and deep down she knew that it had to rival her dad’s last year at Hogwarts as well. Her dad had been there when Voldemort was trying to take over and even though she knew that he hadn’t gotten involved with the Death Eaters and classmates who had obviously been on their side, he had still been there when the school was attacked. Deep down that was something that Flick was afraid of, she knew that they were safe at Hogwarts right now and there were more Guardians and Ministry workers around than ever but with so many of them in one place it made all of them a target. There was still an atmosphere around the school, one that had only been growing tenser since the former Minister for Magic was killed, and something told her that it wasn’t going to get any better any time soon. For her part Flick was doing her best to keep the students calm but there were times when it felt like the school was a powder keg that was going to blow sooner or later, it was just a matter of time. There was a time when she really hadn’t cared about her younger brothers but ever since they had stood by her after her ex cheated on her she had realised that they weren’t so bad after all and since the start of the year she had taken it upon herself to check in with them more often and make sure that they were doing alright. She also knew that she didn’t want them falling in with the wrong crowd so it was her way of keeping an eye on them as well. She was fortunate in that there was no way that her friends were going to get involved with the Enlightened, Elaine wasn’t interested in that and Harvey and Cory both wanted to get as far away from their parents’ shadows as they could so she didn’t have to worry about them either. When it came to her brothers, though, she knew that they could be easily swayed and she knew that she couldn’t let that happen.
That day her classes had finished early, they weren’t meant to but one of her classes had been cancelled because the professor hadn’t showed up and that in itself was strange but Flick didn’t let it bother her too much as she made her way through the castle. With all the extra patrols she and the other Prefects were having to do she hadn’t had time to do the homework for that particular class as well as she had wanted to and that wasn’t like her at all. Flick had always prided herself in being the best in as many of her classes as she could, she knew there were students who looked down on her because of who her parents were but she had learned to rise above that and be her own person. She was competitive and didn’t like feeling like she hadn’t given something her all so while some of her classmates headed outside to get some air and enjoy the sunshine, Flick made her way to the student’s lounge and found one of the empty chairs by the window where she could sit and make sure that she got the assignment just right before the place started to fill up as everyone else finished their classes as well.
