It was strange to think just how quickly things had changed. At the end of August he had been looking forward to the start of the new quidditch season and he knew that the kids had been looking forward to the start of a new school year at Hogwarts while Alison continued to thrive. Everything had seemed to simple but in the blink of an eye everything had changed. Now magic had been revealed to the world and Connor knew that things were never going to be the same again. He was worried about his siblings and his friends but more than anything he was worried about his wife and kids. He had seen what Will and Kirsten had gone through after losing their respective spouses and he knew that he never wanted to find himself in the same position as them. He and Alison had both tried to be there for them as much as possible and it had made him realise even more just how lucky he was. He had fallen in love with his best friend and they were more in love than ever. They had two amazing children as well and he knew that he would do whatever he had to in order to keep all of them safe.
That day he'd had a training session with the Magpies so that they could make sure that they were ready for the start of the new season but he could tell that after everything that had happened his teammates had been distracted and worried about their families so he had decided to end the training session early so that they could all go home and be with their loved ones. Apparating home, Connor set his broomstick and training gear down in the cupboard before jumping into the shower. He had some time left before Alison was due to get home so once he had showered and changed he set about making dinner for the two of them. The kids were at Hogwarts and wouldn't be home that evening so they had the place to themselves and he knew that they might as well make the most of it with an impromptu date night. Once he had started cooking the food he lit some candles and set them in their places on the table before opening a bottle of wine and pouring two glasses so one was ready for Alison when she got home.
