School really was boring, even the interesting classes in the grand scheme of things was boring. Thankfully not as boring since she was able to customize her schedule with the classes that suited her and her future career but every class had their ups and downs. Since being back for the new term the homework and lessons had been intense, it was her final year and everything they would need to learn yet was going to be packed into this final year, and frankly being buried in homework on a daily basis was exhausting, even the students who were notorious for slacking off were more commonly seen doing homework since the term began and Elaine herself spent more free periods over homework than much else but that weekend she was allowing herself a reprieve from the boring bookwork to do some more physical practise. Cory and Elaine's friendship over the years had been about what you'd expect of a Gryffindor and a Slytherin, minus she was generally more decent to Cory than most Slytherins would be. Elaine could be a real smartass about 99 percent of the time, and talking to Cory was no exception, but he fired back at her enough, and they got along well enough. She'd truly stopped caring about him being a Gryffindor when the rest of his family was Slytherin and the shock that shook the school about thirty seconds after it took place, but not everyone saw it that way and it was laughable the amount of people who actually still tried to make Cory's life hell as a result of something out of his control seven years ago. Now that the Enlightened had came about there was the usual judgement of all the students as they decided for themselves who was with who, and it wasn't a surprise that Cory and his brother Harvey were amongst the top people believed to be involved with the senseless killings and attacks on muggle and magical families alike, Elaine herself had gained some talk, talk that she rolled her eyes at, flicked her hair behind her shoulder as she either turned on her heel and walked away from the idiocy or simply hexed them with something annoying and unpleasant but not serious and walked away with a smirk on her face. Elaine had her thoughts on the status of wizards hiding from Muggles, but she didn't think revealing magic in a way that guaranteed chaos was the right way to go about it and frankly was annoyed by the group. It'd been the talk of the school since the term had began and Elaine was glad to have today's incentive to get away from the maddening rumors and Quibbler type news reports popping up and being shared left and right on social media. The incentive being Cory and Elaine's duelling refresher practise before the lessons themselves ramped up.
It had been an ongoing thing for years now, and Elaine looked forward to it, a chance to make sure she wasn't rusty and embarrass herself in the classroom, and it was great for Elaine to take out frustrations by shooting spells at Cory and shielding against his and the who hits who first bet. Dressed in simple jeans and a t-shirt with her dark hair pulled back to not obstruct her vision, she made her way up to the seventh floor where the room of requirement was, taking the time to push past a group of first year Gryffindor's talking to some portrait and clogging the staircase, scaring them off simply by being an older student and one of them recognising her as a Slytherin.
Once she was past them she stood in front of the entrance to the Room of Requirement, closed her eyes, and walked past it three times while thinking of what she wanted the room for. When she opened her eyes she wasn't surprised to see the door appear and pulled it open and stepped inside, finding the set-up perfect as per usual. Of course it would be given Elaine was well versed in how the room worked and looked at Cory, who'd beaten her there, naturally given he didn't have nearly as far to go and gave him a wave, "Next time we really need to pick a more neutral place. One where I don't have to travel up seven flights of stairs and you have to what walk down the hall?" She said in lieu of greeting as she put her bag on the hook and pulled her wand out of it. "How's your term been so far? Ready to get your ass kicked privately by me in our refresher course so I can then slay you in the actual duelling class?" She teases knowing that they're evenly matched given how often they practise with each other, but it wouldn't be Elaine if she didn't state she was the better of the pair, her mind already preparing her chosen spells and shield charms as it drudged up the unused spells after blowing the dust off the place her memory stored it over the summer.
