There was a time when quidditch was an important part of Summer’s life but unfortunately those days felt like they were a lifetime ago now. She had spent years playing for her house’s team alongside Ana, Chantal and a few others and she had enjoyed every minute of it. There were times when she really missed it but she had known when she’d graduated that healing was where her heart lay and now that she had the girls as well she knew that it wouldn’t have been possible for her to play quidditch for a living and raise them on her own. She didn’t regret any of the decisions that she had made but she would be lying if she said that there weren’t still times when she wondered what it would be like to get on a broom again and play the sport she loved. As it was these days she had to settle for watching the sport instead and cheering on her friends but that was fun in itself anyway and it was something that she could share with the girls like she had done today. Ana had sent her tickets for the Falcons’ latest game and Summer hadn’t hesitated in taking the girls with her. They had been to a quidditch match before but not for a long time and she knew that they didn’t remember much about it so seeing them experience it all over again for the first time was enough to make her smile. She knew that her husband would have loved to have been there to watch it as well but the girls didn’t remember anything about him either. She did her best to keep him alive in their minds but their memories were all of her, her family and her friends so all she could do was try her best to make sure that they didn’t miss out on anything.
With the match over, Summer stayed in the stands for a while letting everyone else leave before she made her way down. Ana’s team had won and Summer’s voice had gone a little hoarse from cheering her on as much as she had done but it had been a great day for all three of them. Ana had promised that she would meet them after and they would then hopefully be able to get something to eat before heading back home to put the girls to bed and the truth was that Summer was looking forward to it. Reaching the pitch, she headed in the direction of the changing rooms with the girls’ hands clasped in her own as she walked. As soon as they saw Ana emerging they took off in her direction at a run and both hugged her as soon as they reached her. “Ana, you were amazing out there,” Summer said, taking her turn to hug her friend as she reached her. “Thank you for today, it was incredible.”
