Summer had never thought that this would end up being her life. She had two amazing daughters, a twin she adored, a mother who was there for her through everything and two best friends who were sisters as far as she was concerned. She knew that she was incredibly blessed to have all of them in her life and she knew that she really shouldn’t wish for anything else but the truth was that being a single parent like her mum had before her wasn’t something that she had ever wanted for herself. She knew that the circumstances were different, her husband had died while her dad had chosen to leave when she and Angel were just babies, but the end result was still the same. She was still raising her girls without their dad around and even though she told them stories about him and made sure they knew just how much he had loved them, she knew that it just wasn’t the same. She had thought that she had found the guy that she was meant to spend the rest of her life with but his had been cut tragically short and now Summer was left to go on without him. It had been almost two years since he had died and she knew that he would have wanted her to be happy so she felt like it was time for her to move on but the truth was that she had absolutely no idea how to do that. In the past it had been so easy to meet people especially when she was at Hogwarts and even after graduation she had met Finn while she was out with some friends and he had swept her off her feet. Needless to say she had no idea how to go about getting back on the horse but she knew that perhaps it was about time that she reached out to Ana and Chantal to see how they had managed it before. Chantal and Seth had found their way back to each other just like Summer had always hoped that they would and Summer got the impression that there was something going on between Ana and Matt but the two girls were her best friends and she knew that if there was anyone who would understand then it was them.
Right now wasn’t the time to worry about that, though, as she had agreed to meet Micheal for a catch up. She had assured him that he didn’t have to keep checking in on her now that he was Minister for Magic and had a much busier schedule than he’d ever had before but he had insisted and she had known that there was no way that she was going to turn him down. Truth be told seeing him was always a highlight of her day when they had the chance to catch up. He had been there at their wedding given that he was one of Finn’s superiors and he had started checking in on her and the girls after Finn had died. Summer was so grateful to him for that and she always enjoyed the time that they were able to spend together. If she was honest being around him was enough to make her feel butterflies in the pit of her stomach and that was something that she had never expected to feel again after Finn died. Of course nothing was going to happen, he was much older than she was and he had a daughter of his own, not to mention he had the whole country relying on him. Nothing would happen but it still made Summer feel a little better knowing that she could feel that way again and she knew now that she was ready to face her fear of falling for someone only to end up losing them again and put herself back out there. That day they had agreed to meet at the Three Broomsticks for a drink before possibly heading somewhere else and Summer found herself sitting at an empty table waiting for Micheal to arrive. She had already taken the liberty of ordering the first round and his favourite drink sat in front of the chair that he would hopefully soon be occupying. Summer checked her phone in case he’d had to cancel but there weren’t any messages waiting for her to all she could do was wait.
