Don’t be nervous. Those were the three little words that kept playing through Lucien’s mind as he got ready. It was the weekend which meant that he didn’t have to worry about work since there were others who could cover the weekend shifts and didn’t seem to mind doing that for him and the other staff who had kids to look after so he and Cameron had agreed that today was the day they were going to have their girls meet. Lucien wasn’t used to this, he hadn’t liked anyone since Valentine and it had been a long time since he had last met anyone who could make him feel this way, let alone another guy. His only serious relationship with a guy was during his days at Beauxbatons and Lucien had ended up being cheated on but he knew that a lot had changed since then, he had changed since then. In the past he’d always had a habit of picking people who were wrong for him but this time he couldn’t help but hope that he might have finally ended up getting it right. Cameron was a great guy and they had really hit it off during their date. For the first time in a long time he had high hopes about where this could end up going but Corrine and Cameron hadn’t met and Lucien hadn’t met Sunny either. They both had complicated pasts and they had opened up about those during their first date so they knew what they were letting themselves in for but they had their girls to think about as well and Lucien really hoped that they were going to get along. Corrine meant the world to Lucien and he knew that Sunny meant the same to Cameron so if it was going to work then the girls had to be on board too.
Pulling on his jacket, Lucien made his way to Corrine’s room and felt a smile touch his lips as he let his shoulder rest against the doorframe and watched her for a moment. “Hey mon amour, are you ready to go?” he asked, his smile widening as she got up from where she was playing and hugged him before looking up at him and asking if she could bring a couple of her toys along. “Of course you can, go and get them,” he nodded, watching as she did just that before she took his hand and he led her downstairs. Putting her coat on since Lucien knew that it was sure to be cold out, he took his daughter’s hand once more and led the way to the park. He knew that Corrine knew the way by now considering they spent enough time there but he could tell that she was a little nervous too. “Don’t worry, it’s going to be fine. They’re going to love you,” he assured her, giving her hand a gentle squeeze as they walked. He hadn’t really known what to tell her since he hadn’t been in this position before so he had simply told her that they were going to meet his friend Cameron and his little girl Sunny for the afternoon and as they reached the park, Lucien realised that they were the first ones there. It wasn’t long before Corrine was looking up at him expectantly and he couldn’t help but laugh. “Go on, have fun,” he chuckled although moments later she was asking him to push her on the swings and Lucien didn’t hesitate in doing just that as they waited for Cameron and Sunny to arrive.
