The threat of the Enlightened was still there hanging over them all and there were times when it felt like a crushing weight on Flick’s chest especially when she wasn’t able to get hold of her dads or brothers right away but it didn’t sound like those responsible for the attacks were any closer to being exposed so it was something that they all had to live with for now. There was so much uncertainty in the world right now but one thing Flick knew for sure was that none of them could stop living their lives. There were so many Guardians and Ministry workers around to keep them safe but Flick also knew that she and a lot of the other students weren’t helpless either. She was a perfectionist when it came to all of her classes and that included duelling so she wasn’t worried as she headed into Hogsmeade to meet her dads for lunch. They always met up with her as often as they could and she loved them for it, she had never been interested in getting to know her biological mother because the truth was that her dads were all that she needed. She had been their world from the day that she was born and they had still doted on her even after her younger brothers came along. Now she was still just as close with them as ever and she knew that she wouldn’t have it any other way.
As it was they ended up having a nice afternoon together before it came time for her to head back to Hogwarts. Hugging them both goodbye and promising to text them later, Flick watched them apparate away before making her way through the village following the path she knew would take her back to Hogwarts. There was still time left before they all had to go back to the school but being a Prefect meant that Flick had additional responsibilities and those didn’t go away just because it was the weekend. She wasn’t sure what Elaine, Harvey or Cory were doing that day, she hadn’t seen either of them around Hogsmeade when she had been spending time with her dads but she knew that she would check in with them later. Her brothers had landed themselves in detention which meant that a trip to Hogsmeade that weekend had been off the cards for them and that had suited her just fine. They were still brats but they were getting better as they got older and she didn’t mind sharing her dads’ attention with them quite as much now as she once had.
Catching sight of a group about to make its way back up to Hogwarts, there were no Aurors, Guardians or adults in general in sight and that worried Flick. She hadn’t noticed anything amiss about the village that day but the fact that the students were on their own was a concern. They were all at least a couple of years younger than Flick and she tried convincing them to stay there and wait for an escort but apparently they had been waiting there for a while and they were getting restless. That definitely explained why there was such a large group and Flick looked around once more for any sign of anyone on duty that day heading their way but she couldn’t see anyone. “Listen up, keep your wits about you and whatever you do, stay together,” she warned, moving aside so that they could start making their way up to Hogwarts. It was moments later when a girl screamed and Flick pushed her way through the crowd, her blood running cold as she caught sight of someone in a mask standing only a few metres away. “Get behind me,” she said as she pulled her wand out of her pocket and held it out in front of her. “They’re kids, leave them alone,” she hissed which only drew a laugh from the person before her. “We’re here to send a message, no one is safe,” the man warned as another couple of people wearing masks emerged from the shadows. “Get out of here, get help! I’ll hold them off,” Flick ordered the others quickly before focusing her attention on the people before her, moving quickly to block the spells they started sending in the direction of the fleeing students.
