Teddy had been born into a time when there was so much uncertainty in the world. His parents had died fighting against Voldemort and his Death Eaters for a better future for everyone and now the Enlightened were threatening that future just like Voldemort once had. Teddy knew that they could never go back to the way things used to be, the damage had already been done and too many people knew the truth about magic now but he honestly hoped that in time things would settle down and they would be able to live in peace with muggles once more. The Enlightened needed to be stopped and he and his department were working hard to stop them but so far they hadn’t managed to catch anyone who was actually involved with the Enlightened. There had been a few pretenders along the way, a group of supporters who wanted to join the Enlightened had attacked a group of students from Hogwarts and those supporters had ultimately been captured but they still weren’t who he and the others were really after. It was frustrating to say the least, the Enlightened were clever and they definitely knew how to cover their tracks but Teddy knew that he just had to believe that sooner or later they would make a mistake and then both the Ministry and Guardians would be able to stop them once and for all.
Until then, all Teddy could do was do his bit as best he could. Most of his days were filled with missions he and his partner needed to complete, some of those required him to use his metamorphmagus abilities to get the result they needed but others let him be himself and those were the ones he preferred by far. When he wasn’t on missions joined the others in protecting Hogwarts and Hogsmeade but that day Teddy had had what felt like a rare day off these days. There was a good reason for it, he had been staying in an apartment ever since he graduated so he could have his own space and Victoire could stay with him when she wanted to after they got together but now Teddy knew that he was ready for something different. He hadn’t told his girlfriend about his plan but he’d bought a house using some of the money he’d inherited from his parents and he hoped that Victoire would move in with him. He still had plenty left over so he didn’t need to worry but instead of just letting it sit there or spending it all on rent where he was living he had decided that he might as well put it to good use. Victoire would be graduating in a few months and when that happened she would be joining him at the Ministry and even though there were some who might think that being together and working together was enough, it wasn’t for Teddy. One thing he had learned from losing his parents was to keep the people he loved close and Victoire fell into that category without a doubt. He wanted them to have a future together and he hoped that future might start tonight. He knew that asking her was a risk since there was a chance that she might say no but their whole relationship had been a risk and it was one of the best things that had ever happened to Teddy so he knew that he had to ask, otherwise he would never know. Heading up to Hogwarts after he had finished doing what he needed to at the house, Teddy made his way to Hogwarts. He and Victoire had a standing date night every week but this week he hoped it might be a little different. He knew he could go into the school to look for her but it was a big place so instead he sat on the wall at the side of the fountain in the courtyard and waited for her to appear.
