Vee felt awkward, her anxiety telling her that everyone was judging her with her hard demeanor being dolled up for something as sophisticated and elegant as the Yule Ball. But for some insane reason, she was there, dressed in satin periwinkle robes that pulled out the blue in her eyes. Her blonde curls were even curlier and piled on top of her head in in a delicate twist. Two tiny strands of hair framed her pale face. Because she would undoubtedly have a nasty breakout and wake up with her eyes glued shut and crusty, she decided against makeup, something she was now certain other people were looking at. What had she been thinking? The Weasley girl waded her way through the crowd of students, all of them dressed for the occasion, holding nothing back to show off for the night. She hadn't come with anyone, and she was now regretting that. She would love to at least be able to complain and laugh about the ball with someone, anyone. It would be so much better than the panicky mess she was now. Her eyes darted all over the Great Hall, noticing every detail of the grand space. Bewitched snow fell overhead, making the entire place feel like a winter wonderland. Vee found sanctuary by the refreshment table. All sorts of bite-size hors d'oeuvres lined the golden runner splitting the white linen tablecloth. A multitude of drinks clustered at the end of the table. Vee beelined there. At least she could find a way to busy her hands instead of wringing them until the friction began to burn. She looked over the selection, finding it immensely difficult to decide. Every color of liquid filled massive jugs, magically refilling themselves as they were emptied. After much deliberation, she settled on a pumpkin juice. The drink was cold on her lips and sweet on her tongue. It also helped ease her flightiness. The Great Hall began to feel less claustrophobic. People were no longer staring, not that they ever had to begin with. Maybe the night wouldn't wouldn't be such a disaster after all. @open first post woo! |
i'll always take the harder road
