There were still times even now when Seth couldn’t understand how he had ended up getting this lucky. He and Chantal were each other’s first love, they were together while they were at Hogwarts and they had tried to make it work but in the end they had drifted apart despite their best efforts to figure things out. Seth had tried to move on from her but the truth was that he had never found anyone who had even come close to meaning as much to him as she did. No one had ever replaced Chantal in his heart and now he knew that they never would. They had reconnected at Summer’s wedding and they had been going from strength to strength ever since. They had taken their time to figure things out to an extent but now they were happily married and they had an amazing son so Seth really did feel blessed. He knew how close he had come to never having this life with Chantal and he had seen how devastated Summer was when her husband died so it all just made Seth cherish their time together that much more. It had taken Seth a while to start living his life for himself rather than just doing what his family wanted him to do but now things were different. Now he was living his life for himself and the little family that he and Chantal had built together and he couldn’t deny that he was proud of everything that they had.
It would be easy to take what they had for granted but Seth knew that he wasn’t going to do that, not when he knew what it was like to have to live without the love of his life. Seth’s work often kept him busy and he knew that it was the same for Chantal with her training schedule but this time they were making things work and that day Seth had decided to put together an impromptu date night. He had already made arrangements with Summer as she had agreed to look after Luca for the night and let him have a sleepover with the twins and that meant that he and Chantal could have a night without having to worry about anything. Summer had promised to call if there were any problems and Angel had said that he would probably end up checking on his sister and the kids as well so Seth knew that it would be fine. It was strange considering it was the first night he and Chantal would have had without Luca but he had promised that they would take the girls for a night in exchange so Summer could have some time to herself as well so it all worked out. Seth could have made reservations for them so they could have a meal out but instead he had decided to cook, making sure that the food was perfect before lighting the candles as he waited for Chantal to get home.
